war is ugly, mostly you cant distinguish between good and bad. every soldier is led by beliefs of his own and what he thinks is the right thing, and some are just forced to follow those beliefs. Humans are in constant war, and it is so because we have the ability to think, think that "our" side is the right side... when we watch ww2 from Allies perspective, we hate the Germans. I truly believe that when you look at the war from the German perspective, you'll have sympathy for the Germans and wont think too much about the Allied forces. War is complicated
